I stopped smoking crack for RIFT

So once again Blackmoore ventures forth into another game. This time RIFT finally comes out of Beta and into “headstart” (The offical release is 4/3 in europe and 1/3 in US).

Yet another Blackmoore, this time in RIFT

The main idea is “We make a copy of a very popular mmo and make it better, with cooler graphics, smarter gameplay and make it all totally configurable so that any player can make whatever macro, UI they want”

The game was great in Beta, the game in headstart is totally awasome. It runs smooth, looks great, handles great and most important – It’s fun!
Besides the concept of “rifts” (kinda open world raids open for anyone) it’s the little things that made me fall for RIFT troughout the Beta – Like when teaming up with your friend get the question “Your friend is in another playfield, you want to go there?”. Or the connection to twitter, where the game auto tweets your achivements and sends a screenshot. etc. etc.

The only problem now is there’s not enough servers, Withefall had over 3 hours waiting time today, and It’s the same on any server now..
Trion has to seriously fix this asap!

Besides that –  this is a game any serious mmo fan has to try out for themselves tbh – so preorder now and get your head in the game!

I’ve seen my share of wow clones but wtf?!

Yet another Blackmoore goes orcish in “Allods Online”.. Or is it wow?

Allods Online cloned wow down to even the gestures – this might be a good thing for some, so I’ll leave it to you all to make your own mind up. For myself, i got bored of wow years back – and have no need for more of the same thing, especially not now with the release of RIFT in a coupple of weeks.

So with wow in mind, the graphics are pretty ok, nothing new and not really great on 1920×1200 but nice enough.
The game plays flawless, quests are ok and the russian influence makes for a pretty fresh experience.

Russian developer
Behind the game are the russian developer Astrum Nival. Founded in 2006, Astrum Nival, formerly known as Nival Online, is the leading developer and operator of free to play client-based online games in the Russian Federation and the CIS.

However Allods are “Free-To-Play” and Rift are not.
So for the young poor pathetic gamer out there, go for it. For the rest of us, it just wont cut it tbh.

“ok” pretty much sums it up – and if you like the genre and want to take a step up RIFT would be the game youre looking for.

Almost forgot a fine tradition!

Blackie was about the only “Superhero” on the server not wearing a cape and a spandex dress..

God damn! I have totally fogotten a fine old tradition I started way back in 2001 when i played Anarchy Online.
I allways saved a screenshot of a “Blackmoore” in the games i Played. when i started to blog again after a break in 2007 i tried to get this going again and now it seem it has slipped again.
So this is totally for my own sake (as i now canceled my account). A Blackie from DCUO.

P.s click on the tag “screenshot” in the tag cloud a bit down to se all the “blackmoores”. A lot more to come when i dig thru my HD`s

God times!

Most anticipated right now

Shame on Sony Online!
Took me about 3-4 weeks to reach max level, and raid all the content in DC Universe Online.. phhhft..
Keep in mind that only says something about how little content the game really has, it’s amazing how long they worked on it, hyped it and how little they actually acomplished in the end.. Shame! Shame! Shame!

Yes im a little bit pissed.

The art of powerleveling

However, always looking forward to the next game, this is how i planned my gaming year in order of planned release:

Rift – Pre-ordered and allready in the Beta, having loads of fun

Brink – Pre-ordered. This game have some high expectations to live up to.

Star Wars – The old Republic. Do I even have to say anything here?

Battlefields 3 – BF, i have played every BF there is, and Im sure as hell not going to stop now!

The Secret World – will this ever be released? I really hope so cuz the game gives me goosebumps all over..

Diablo 3 – this will be great, mark my words.

So next stop Rift!

Southwest.. starting a world  event and getting the whole server killed..

Can I call you later, Im in Gotham City right now..

So you got yourself your skills, you got yourself your powers and a whole lot of laid back fun!

I got a msg on msn last night from a friend in BF (Bad Company 2) who asked me “where the hell i was”. My answer was “Im in Gotham City right now, and later this evening im goin to Metropolis..” He was like “wtf dude?..”

But it’s true, since the last 3 weeks im totally hooked on DC Universe Online (DCUO).
SOE are Definitely on to something here, there is no really level curve, and the effort to get from level 29-30 is about the same as level 9-10. The world feels big and there’s really no sense of zooning when you fly, run or climb around in the world. The sensation is amazing when you from walking around, fighting at street level, suddenly can climb on a building, reaching the top, throw yourself out and “glide” over the city to slam down in the middle of a group of bad guys a mile away… Truly amazing.

The really sad and bad thing is the game has almost no endgame content – I realized this a week later. Im sorry, but a game that calls two (small) instances and a bunch of repeatable quests “end game content” will get no support from me. However, you will have fun getting there..

The bad
The GUI has some work left and feels very aimed at the consols, but hey I can live with that a patch or two, cuz the gameplay itself blows me away.
The chat is another issue, it sux right now, and the league chat is borke for the most of the time. But once again, I can live with that for a patch or two.

The Good
pvp is fast and often over in minutes when you meet another player in the open world, this is great. Im so bored with most games now a days, making pvp into something complicated who drags out all to long.

Teaming is easy, que up for what you wanna do, select your role and get matched with others. Raids are best done with your friends, or a guild because most people still sux bad at raiding, and have no sense of how to play the role they have. Tanks try to be dps, controllers have no idea what to control etc. You know the game, it’s the same in most mmo’s out there.

I’ts pretty much a solo game up to leve 30 (the cap right now) if you want it to be, but after that i would say there’s really not much to do if you’r not in a league or have some friends unless you wanna go for random pvp play. Gameplay is fast paced and fun and I really urge you to try it out if you are a fan of superheroes and mmo’s
