I’m in love!
At first it doesn’t looke like much, but after a coupple of seconds tinkering I get it. It’s so much faster, easier and lot more fun to use. The  app is undergoing a major redesign and now includes several much-requested features, including new support for high-res photos, post sharing, and Facebook Timeline(!).

Everything is better, and this is what the app should have been right from the start. With swiping left and right to get your groups, friends etc. Now get this this ready and public!

How to install facebook home on any device

WP_20130415_002
Facebook home on the ASUS Padfone 2

Thanks to the XDA Developers hacker theos0o. A engineered modified version of Facebook Home can be  installed as long as you allow your phone or tablet to install unofficial apps that aren’t  in the Google Play store.

  • Uninstall the original Facebook, Facebook Messenger, and Facebook Home  applications if you already have them. If any Facebook apps are pre-installed on  your device, you will likely need to root your phone to remove it.
  • Download the hacked version of Facebook Home (link here) and hacked version of Facebook Messenger (link here). Extract the .rar  files.
  • Install the official Facebook app (com.facebook.katana), then the Facebook  Home launcher (com.facebook.home), and then the Facebook Messenger app  (com.facebook.orca).
  • Enable Facebook Home under the Facebook app settings. Reboot your  device.
  • If you have any serious issues, reboot into recovery mode and wipe the  Dalvik cache. (Power + volume down)

The offcial app
Can be found in Google Play https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.facebook.home with only a  rating of 2.4 at the moment. Right now only released for  HTC First, HTC One X, HTC One X+, Samsung Galaxy S3 och Samsung Galaxy Note 2 and will support Galaxy S4 and HTC One when there released.

So what about it?
I’m probably not considered as a “poweruser” of facebook. But it looks nice and seems to work as it should. It’s easy enough to get to the usual view I had before the update when needed. But as you can drag shortcuts to the apps you need and get to your normal startscreen with just one click, there’s really not much use to go back. It works flawless when docked to the Padfone station as well.

I have to try it out some more later tonight (with Netflix, Skype SMS etc.) but it i had no performance issues so far and and as far as my initial feeling it just adds value to my PadFone 2 so far.

*edit*
Everything works fine so far on the ASUS Padfone 2. Would have been great if the home screen could have more settings though. I would like to get e-mail notifications right on there etc. Guess that’s coming later.

Addicted to binary bullshit

Remember “back in the day” when going on vaction ment no phone, no computer and your contact with the rest of the world was limited to a postcard every now and then during the trip? And in best case it had arrived before you came home..

Gentlemen – Start your engines!

If your answer is “no..” youre probably a lot younger then me. Most of my vacations was actually spent like above. No contact with work, no phonecalls, no TV, no idea where or what my friends was up to. When you got home you made slides of all your pictures, inviting friends over and had “show and tell”.  And remember – this is not 100 years ago. Im “only” 42 yo, mind you.

With facebook hitting over 150 million mobile users it’s safe to asume we’re not in Kansas anymore – Blackmoore

My answer is “Hell no!”
Now I share my pictures and videos with the rest of my friends the same second things happen on my Nokia N900. Writing “status messages” telling my network where i am and when im doing “it”. I get a shitload of mail from work every coupple of minutes, SMS, MMS from my mother, father, friends etc. updating me on every little thing there up to.. And with facebook hitting over 150 million mobile users it’s safe to asume we’re not in Kansas anymore!

Yesterday my computer even asked me if I wanted to activate the built in GPS while I was connecting via 3G.. My answer was “Hell no!” and I started to think – is this really “beeing away”?

Addicted to binary bullshit
Seems to me like were just changing location but we still do the same things and the factor of stress is just as high – were all addicted to binary bullshit.

So fuck this! – this is my last blogpost for a coupple of weeks, and I wont be using facebook, flickr, youtube either. I just turned my phone off to – cuz i don’t want another bullshit sms from my father updating me on whatever he’s up to!

This is Blackmoore – signing out from binary bullshit!

Facebook content – optimized for Windows 7 in a “Fishbowl”

Fishbowl is a WPF desktop application that uses the Facebook stream APIs to allow access to Facebook in a clean and impressive UI. Fishbowl also includes Windows 7 only features, including taskbar notifications, jump-lists and taskbar previews. The interface fully supports multi-touch navigation too and image gestures to navigate and view your photos. Fishbowl was created by the UXLabs@Microsoft to showcase the Windows Platform.

Touch support!
Exploring photos might be the best thing, using touch gestures or flip through images with your mouse scroll-wheel. As a Tablet PC user you get full support (like in Win 7 overall).

Fair warning!
Keep in mind, since it’s currently a trial version you won’t get any support

According to Microsoft, Fishbowl will also work on Windows XP and Windows Vista but i havent had the chance to try that yet (in the case of XP i never will lol!). But all of you allready installed windows 7 of course.. or?

It’s available for download by technology enthusiasts and Facebook power users from http://www.fishbowlclient.com/.

At last! Official Facebook Application For The Nokia E71 & E72

For some reason Nokia decided NOT to announce this news..
The Facebook app. works really nice, and finally support to upload photos to your Facebook account. It’s still the same old infantile comments from the same old people so no help there I’m afraid.

What people really should ask themselves before updating their status is, “Should I go kill myself instead of updating my status on Facebook?” In most cases the answer would be yes..

It should work on all S60v3 devices so check it out from Ovi Store in your E71 or by the link below.
