N900 turned into PS3 controller

This is Epic!

BlueMaemo Bluetooth emulator. Available via the Extras-Devel repository on your N900, this app allows the device to mimic other Bluetooth gadgets, such as keyboards, mice, and yes indeedy, gaming controllers.

The software is still in Alpha but anything that connects to a PS3 is worth checking out

This is me – working my last day

Not much happening right now, most nights goes away in a haze of Battlefields 2142 or recording music in Cubase. Work has been crazy the last two weeks as I aim to implement two new features in our LMS platform before I leave. Now enough with the boring workrelated stuff.

Not much excitement..
The only exciting thing going on right now is my search for a “new” used Marshall amp right now, preferably a half stack. A lot of people say they have problems with Valvstate tops. I had a Valvstate (among others, JCM, Mosfet etc.) myself way back and it worked flawlessly both live and in our studio. The reason I mention the Valvstate is there in my price range – cheap.. And I don’t want to put up a fortune for a half stack as my “live playing days” probably are over more or less.

If you have any tips or insight on what half stack would suite an old rocker like me feel free to drop me a message.

A lot more excitement in the virtual world
SWOTR, STO, DC Universe, Diablo 3 etc. etc. There’s no end to all the cool games coming later this fall. The most exciting news is ofc DC Universe for Playstation 3 (due to come 2010) and SOE even had it running on a PS3 during E3.

Star Trek Online
There’s been a new dev chat with the guys at STO

Star Wars The Old Republic
SWTOR have three new classes and some new cool class specific videos.
The Smuggler
Now this looks like your average Han Solo kinda guy. And we all know “”Traveling Thru Hyperspace Ain’t Like Dustin Crops Boy.”. Looks like the “small arms dual wielder”. Check it out!

The trooper
This is your solider ranged weapons specialist. Even if the trooper have some close combat moves it’s in ranged combat, lobbing grenades and firing heavy weapons he will be at he’s best. You will remember “The Solja” from Anarchy Online. You played Atrox solja ofc 😀

The Bounty Hunter
This looks like the “Jack of all trades” guy for the Dark side. With a variety of tricks and gadgets there known as “The Jedi Killers”.. They obviously  never met Obi Wan Blackmoore yet..

Besides that, Aion (The asian makeover gay fly like an angel game) had its closed beta Phase one and by the time we all had downloaded the client it was all over – had to be the shortest beta in the mmo history. Anyway there going for Phase two starting 19th of June. If you’re lucky you might even get the chance to log in this time.. I’m not even going to put up a link for this lame gay game.

DC Universe on Playstation 3!
For the first time publicly, SOE showed off DC Universe Online using a Playstation 3. Now this is f***ing great news! Check out the interview  with SOE Creative director Jens Anderson made by the great guys at mmorpg.com: Watch the Interview with Jens Anderson.  It’s exciting as hell with a mmorpg for the PS3! http://www.mmorpg.com/gamelist.cfm/game/350/feature/3155/E3-2009-Preview.html

This is me, working my last day before I go on my seven week long vacation(!)  Yes you heard me – I am taking back every inch of overtime done the last year now!

Peace out! (Not if we meet in the battlefield ofc)

The world according to Blackmoore

Diablo III

Time for a game update.
Been a while since I last checked out what was going on in the mmo world around me, and tbh I actually passed on many PC games during 2008 due to my birthday present. Sadly enough the Playstation 3 still doesn’t come with a descent mmorpg game. .

The first real mmorpg for Playstation 3?
Looks like this will change however with the development of DC Universe Online by Sony.

For a long time this was just a strange rumor on the information highway out there, but now it seems Sony has finally realized there is money to be made here (They will probably drop the ball as always and FAIL miserably). At least now it seems the world of Metropolis is playable, although lacking quests and content. Never the less, I get the idea and I love it. I have really enjoyed City of Heroes and to get the superhero concept going with my “real” heroes will be a blast. Just imagine to run alongside Flash, or having a shootout with Green Lantern..

World of Borecraft
In the wonderful world of Personal Computing there will of course be world of kidcraft followed by more, Burning kid and Wrath of the kid king during 2009.. And that really, really bores the hell out of me.

There’s this guy at work who’s got the whole family into playing World of warcraft.. Kids, wife – everyone is raiding every night.. So last time I heard of them, he’s wife was having an affair with some guy in their guild – maybe he had a longer sword?.. 😉

2009 for the serious sci-fi mmo gamer
But seriously, for the rest of us 2009 seems to be a year of waiting. Waiting and hoping for some new great ideas to either come to life or FAIL. Cheyenne Mountain’s Stargate worlds seems to be coming along fine and if we’re lucky we will se it go online by the end of this year, Star Trek Online FAILED and was resurrected by Cryptic Studios, Tad Williams “Otherland” is rumored to be under development by RealU and apparently scheduled for release 2010 (Seeing is believing however). But maybe the blockbuster of them all is the Star Wars – The Old Republic mmo by the incredibly talented Bioware. No one will ever remember Sony’s Star Wars Galaxies after this release, trust me. Be sure to keep an eye out for these games during 2009!

Got dwarf?
What’s that? “Darkfall Online”.. Wake the fuck up! Anyone can make a hardcore fantasy pvp game. Who gives a shit? Snap out of it ffs..

There is however one thing  (and one thing only) that excites me in the world of fantasy gaming – Diablo III. It’s not a mmorpg, but an rpg with multiplayer support. This will be THE remake of the year if you ask me, and I’ll be playing it, my brother will be playing it, my wife will be playing it and so will you. Hell! I’ll even get a copy for my seven year old daughter and she will be playing it for sure.

So let’s sum this up for all of you youngsters who can’t read more than one sentence without falling asleep from excessive gaming:

Stargate worlds (Chayenne Mountain) to be released late 2009

Star Trek Online (Cryptic) to be released late 2009

Otherland (RealU) to be released 2010 at best.. Maybe a beta late 2009?

Star Wars – The old republic (Bioware) to be released late 2009

Diablo III (Blizzard) to be released when Blizzard feels like it (rumored 2009)

Personally  I’ll already preordered Diablo III and my mmo money will sure go for SWTOR later this year. So see you on the dark side or in front of my light saber later this year bitches!

Intel in Playstaion 4?

A new rumor suggests that Intel has succeeded in its efforts to place its forthcoming discrete GPU product, codenamed Larrabee, in the next generation of Sony’s PlayStation game console.

Check it out at Ars Technica

p.s I have my hands full right now playing Killzone 2, but I’ll try to write something about it soon enough.

Saved by Killzone 2

So my last weeks have been hunting for a new game addiction, BF 2141 is what i play whenever I am waiting for a new “fix”. As the weeks pass by I slowly get what me and my brother describes as “The computer blues”, I get cranky and depressed from the lack of something new.

And then, just as I am about to give up (and order something cheap on Steam), I get Killzone 2 for Playstation 3 in the mail, a whole month before release.

This week just turned 180 degrees for the better!

Gooooooo Eaton! 😛

The aggressive gamer

So I spent the last week  in Little Big Planet with my seven year old daughter.
She is a pro gamer, I am a former Pro gamer – It’s the young meeting the old.
It’s a new generation standing on the shoulders of giants.. eh..

“The aggressive gamer”
LBP is a nice game, fun for both young and old.
In short it’s a game pretty much anyone could enjoy I guess.
But it has brought some of my daughters more darker sides to my attention, and have forced me to see a small version of myself – “The aggressive gamer”.

When I’m alone playing my games I can get pretty aggressive. Going in to some pretty ugly name calling when getting fragged by a sniper in BF2142 – taking my revenge (after having spent the last 15 minutes crawling up a hill) knifing him from behind while shouting “That will teach not to mess with me motherfucker!”..
Yes I know, It’s not pretty at all but I have at least learned to reframe from this behaviour while the rest of the family is awake.

A seven year old monster
Anyway, the last week in LBP has revealed a new gaming monster in our family, She’s seven years old, blond hair, blue eyes and when it comes to loosing she gets really, REALLY angry..

We have made a deal – we don’t use the “F” word, instead (when we loose) we shout “Bad words” to indicate that we indeed wanted to say some pretty bad words but we didn’t. But whenever she dies she blames me (LBP is a co-op game remember?). No matter where my little Sackboy are, or whatever I am doing she goes like this:

Daughter:  “Now look what you did!”
Me: “eh precious, what did I do?”
Daughter: “You got me killed, that’s what you did!”
Me: “Lol no I did not, I was just standing right there when you made that jump”
Daughter: “Yes exactly, YOU DID NOTHING TO HELP!”
And the same thing happens when I try to help her, It’s always my fault..

So last night she decided to play LBP with her mother (I was buzy knifing snipers).
My wife Is no gamer at all, but she plays anyway but prefers Guitar Hero and Rockband etc. Anyway, after 45 minutes I hear a loud argue from downstairs and after a while my daughter comes running while screaming “Daaaaaad! Can you come and replace mom? she sucks!”

Apparently It’s not always my fault..

And every new year it’s the same thing..

I cancel my CoH account again..

I canceled all my other mmo accounts as well and ended up in Battlefields 2142 as usual. I must be getting old (of course I am..) – I have no time for anything but fast paced casual gaming theese days or Playstaion 3 with my daughter.

Getting my ass kicked big time
So this weeks gaming experiance goes to Playstation 3 and Little Big Planet. After getting my ass kicked the last couple of weeks in Singstar II (big time) and Guitar Hero III and Aerosmith (not so much) by my seven year old daughter she convinced me that LBP would be a more “co-op” experiance and that she would help me past the harder levels..

Musical journeys
Spotify keeps sending me on musical journeys and this weeks album “Soul Fountain” comes from a musician called Clifford Jordan – Check it out!
